FROM TRUCKS TO TURMOIL, RISES THE ROLLING DISH
We started in Seattle's food scene five years ago. During that time, we worked hard to grow to 5 food trucks that operate in and around downtown Seattle. You may know of them, Yumbit and Mo Pockets. We have loved serving Seattle’s busy lunch crowd and continuously worked on our craft to perfect the “food truck experience” for our amazing customers.
Then, along came 2020. The Rolling Dish was created out of these turbulent times. With the COVID-19 outbreak, our business model to roam the streets and serve lunch to hungry Seattleites was brought to a halt, overnight. With our business disrupted, we set out to build something new, something Seattle needs... a lunch delivery concept that can be a win-win for everyone.
Online lunch delivery is at a critical point right now, no company has quite figured it out. Most restaurants are already stretched thin on margins, just trying to make delivery work and tech companies that don't create the food but offer to deliver it, typically take a restaurants entire profit margin in the process. Worst of all, the customers end up the biggest loser with inaccurate wait times, low quality dishes, high delivery fees and more.
Our goal is to try and change this. We set out to create an online-only lunch delivery platform that we control. We bring in our own chefs, create food we know Seattle craves, and deliver it directly. Free delivery to all customers, high-quality dishes tailored to be delivered, and timely drop-offs with no-contact necessary. We built our food trucks to serve the working lunch crowds, now we want to build The Rolling Dish to be a food company that makes delivery better for everyone.
